Dear Dr. Nelson,
Thank you. "Where is there dignity unless there
is honesty?" What happened to the open communication
that you stressed so heavily to our PTA and our students?
I remember that you encouraged surveys. You actually
applauded them.
I understand human resources issues may be "confidential."
However, I can assure you that the survey that I am
putting together is NOT about human resource issues.
It is about the MORALE, about Education, about what
our teachers' are feeling. I want to know what our
teachers are feeling in the classrooms, our St. John's
community because they are interacting with our children.
What are we afraid of? You can ask Dr. Jenkins if
it is ok with him?
I ask for your support on this. Censorship and NOT
allowing free speech of opinion and freedom of expression
is the ultimate form of insult to our human race.
We are an institute for education, lets all educated
in this process.
What have we come to at St. John's School? What are
we now teaching our children? Our future leaders of
the free world? I recall someone once said, "Give
to every other human being every right that you claim
for yourself." I ask that you reconsider, as
a friend, as a parent, as a concerned member of our
community. I hope to work closely with you to assure
that we treat everyone with honor, dignity, and human
kindness. This survey will be very helpful for you
as well to assess anonymously the feelings of your
faculty. I would think that is important for you as
Headmaster.
Respectfully,
Dr. Shieh

Dear Teachers,
This is not an authorized exercise.
I cannot support this and will not entertain any discussion
about this from here on out.
As you know, human resource issues are strictly confidential
and will stay so in the future at St. John's School
- period.
I did have a call from Dr. Shieh this morning and
now I find this in my inbox today at 5:05 pm, right
after the lengthy faculty council meeting adjourned
- which was when I was going to tell Dr. Shieh that
I could not support this idea.
Most sincerely,
Jorge
