Update
on the Dr. Lom issue:
It has been reported that the SJS BOT recently issued a letter
of apology written and signed by BOT president Tim Kernaghan and
that it was posted on the bulletin board for the 2004 seniors
to read.
I guess we should be pleased since it was the efforts of this
website that they (SJS BOT) swear they don't pay any attention
to that brought attention to this particular incident ... But
I'm wondering ... Why didn't the SJS BOT issue a copy and send
it to the entire student body as well as the parents?
Seemed a bit 'convenient' on the part of the SJS BOT to keep the
audience as small as possible so that the incident stayed 'contained'.
Whatever happened to the open communication pledge that this new
headmaster so boasted about at the start of this tenure and even
during his interview?

"Dr.
Lom tears down student flyers." |
(posted

As if this whole issue with Dr. Jenkins wasn't bizarre
enough for a school famous for being boring ... more
than a dozen witnesses have informed us via email
that SJS BOT member Dr.
Jitka Lom allegedly tore down flyers posted at the
SJS campus by the 2004 Senior Class while spitting
out these intimidating words, "What the hell
is this?!"
The stunned seniors who were only voicing their concerns
over the sudden retirement of Dr. Jenkins, through
a peaceful means of communication stayed silent, embarrassed
and confused by the whole situation.
We are not sure how Headmaster Jorge handled the situation,
but this much is clear, the 2004 Senior Class was
once again treated with the most disrespect ever placed
on a graduating class of St. John's by a member of
the BOT. This incident allegedly occurred the morning
of the planned PTA meeting
held on 1/15/04, to discuss Dr. Jenkins sudden 'retirement'.
Editorial: Dr. Lom, what a great
example and role model you are! Your lack of basic
tact and more than that, composure when dealing with
the children of SJS sickens me to my core. I find
it appalling that you can sit on the SJS BOT and help
make decisions that affect students' and teachers'
lives with an attitude like yours.
The last I recall, Guam is still very much a part
of the United States of America, and as such, even
students deserve to express themselves freely through
peaceful means. Who are you to tear down their flyers
and intimidate them by cursing at them?
I suggest that you do two things. One, quit the board
— you don't belong there. Two, make a public
apology on campus to the seniors for your lack of
maturity.
It is sad when kids much younger than yourself can
display common social behavior of decency and respect
while you cannot. Maybe one of the seniors should
be replacing you on that board.
Shame on you for speaking in a manner and tone in
which you would not condone anyone else speaking to
your own child with. Shame on you! I wonder if the
2004 Senior Class parents know this occurred?
